Should you have your baby baptised at church? We personally have many friends, both believers and not, who have gone through this ritual, but why? It could be because their families have said it should be done or because the parents feel it is the right thing to do. Maybe there is a superstitious belief there will be some everlasting protection over the child from then on or that the child’s salvation is guaranteed because of this. Equally, there may be pressure from church leaders to baptise the child.
The majority of churches throughout the UK practice child baptism and it has become a tradition spanning many years of church… Continue reading
We live in days of great confusion and the Christian environment is certainly no exception! Every Christian is exposed to a huge range of views and opinions which can lead to a sense of feeling lost. In the midst of this, it really is vital for every believer to be able to sift out anything that not Scriptural and in order to achieve this, it’s more important than ever to be firmly versed in Scripture. Which is why we ask if you go to a confessing or a compromising church?
Deception always comes in a subtle form and this can be a particularly strong pull in the UK’s liberal society.… Continue reading
When chatting with people about religious belief, many indicate that they are Christian – we obviously include ourselves here!
Sean Kehoe has written an online book that explores what a Christian is (according to the words of Jesus Christ) and it really acts as a checklist for any believer. For an online book, its format is easy to follow with chapter headings that can be selected and chapters that are mostly a digestible size.
We recommend this online book for anyone who considers themselves to be a Christian – what harm can there be in checking our faith against the definitions and criteria set by Jesus Christ? Where our eternal… Continue reading
Peace is always more of a hope than a reality in the Middle East and after a turbulent Spring around Israel there has been relative peace for a number of months – however, there is tension rising in Jerusalem again and it could escalate out of control at any point.
In the last month there has been a number of unprovoked and indiscriminate attacks against Jewish people in Israel. The boldness of these attackers is alarming, their aim is to cause as much suffering as possible with no thought of their own life. They are brainwashed with the ridiculous idea that they will be rewarded in heaven for killing as… Continue reading
If you are a regular to our website, you’ll know we try to emphasize the Jewish foundation of our faith and the notion that the NT is a fulfillment of the OT, as opposed to a replacement of the OT. Virtually every piece of Christian doctrine is underpinned in the OT and the book of Leviticus is richly packed with examples. Here, we are given a foundational verse concerning the work of Jesus Christ on our behalf:
For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes… Continue reading
Pastor Mike Barnard gave this sermon during a guest service at St. Andrews Baptist Church on Sunday 25th October 2014. The sermon was titled “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” and is challenging, as ever, from Mike. See the teachings page we have for Pastor Mike where there are also some of his previous sermons.
Pastor Mike always teaches from Scripture without compromising on Biblical truth which is very rare for a pastor in these last days. His sermon below is only 28 minutes long and well worth listening to…
Are we living in the Millennial Age? Revelation 20:1-6 describes a one thousand year period of time known as the millennial age as follows:
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while. Then I… Continue reading
