A recent study by the Pew Research Center has looked at current trends and makes projections up to 2050 on the future of world religions. Can we really accurately predict 35 years into the future though? There is a real hunger to know the future but there is only one trustworthy source that has already told us what will happen! While looking at current trends can be useful, any future global crisis could render a projection null and void.

According to the study people are leaving Christianity in high numbers. Islam is expected to grow the faster over the next 40 years than any other religion so if the trend continues it is believed by 2050 Christianity and Islam will have the same number of followers. Statistics like this are difficult measure – we believe the number of people who say they are ‘Christians’ and the number who actually are ‘born again’ will be considerably different. It’s the ones that are only Christian by name that would even consider leaving! Either way the future of Christian’s will certainly be difficult as we can see with the vast numbers of Christians being persecuted around the world – but isn’t this what Jesus warned us to expect?

In 35 years times the world will be a very different place and we can see from reflecting on what has happened in the last 35 years, even in the last 10. Technology is advancing so rapidly which is giving many hope that the world can be a better place. But advancements in technology is also causing concerns, Stephen Hawking’s warns about the possibility of robots overtaking us in the future. British theoretical astrophysicist, Sir Martin Rees, says we are facing an ‘inorganic post-human era’. Some are estimating that in the next 25 years robots could begin to achieve intelligence matching humans.

Those concerns could be warranted especially when you look at the 2045 Initiative and their aggressive agenda! If they have their way our human bodies will only exhibits in museums by 2050. This video may shock you with their plans for the future:

Then on SingularityHUB we have 8 predictions for the next 10 years which include ‘perfect knowledge’ and ‘8 billion hyper-connected people’. Their blog is ended with:

Bottom Line: We Live in the Most Exciting Time Ever
We are living toward incredible times where the only constant is change, and the rate of change is increasing.

The appetite for immortality is drastically increasing every year, those who do not believe in God have a fresh hope in a ‘better life’ mainly because of all the technological advancements.

But the future does not need to be uncertain, the prophet Daniel tells us that in the last days knowledge will be increase:

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (Daniel 12:4)

The rate of change has increased dramatically in the recent years, we know more now than ever before and it is the most exciting time ever but that is not because of technological increases! It’s exciting because Bible prophecy is being fulfilled before us, with the stage being set for the final climax! The Bible is the only trustworthy source on the past, present and future! It has been proven on past events giving us the guarantee that events detailed in the future will happen word for word.

Unfortunately even many Christians do not look at Christianity with a view of Christ’s near return. With persecution increasing and troubling days certainly ahead these ‘Christians’ are the ones who will walk away from Christianity. God is preparing a remnant who He will protect in the dark days ahead but only true believers will a part.

As Bible believing Christians we certainly expect 2050 to be a very different place to today’s world! Looking around at the current trends and seeing how closely they match Jesus’ warnings about the end times we believe there will be very turbulent times ahead as God’s patience with a rebellious world runs out and the time of Jesus’ return gets nearer. If we continue on this current path, we suspect we could be living in the Millennial Kingdom by 2050 with Jesus Christ as our King. But however long the fulfillment of these prophecies take, knowing Jesus Christ as your your personal Saviour is the only true future hope!

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure (Isaiah 46:10)
