This weeks commons vote in favour of redefining marriage is another national “kick in the face” towards God. Our country looks to be turning away from God and His Word more each day! David Cameron certainly did not have it all his own way as most of the Tories failed to support him. But there was certainly a large number in support for this, 400 to 175, see How your MP voted.
This is not the end of this issue, though, as more speeches and votes will happen before the Bill moves to the House of Lords. We pray God will raise people up to speak clearly and concisely using God’s Word to detail why this Bill should not be passed. There are very good reasons that we should not redefine marriage – 10 reasons why the government is wrong to redefine marriage.
Above all is it because marriage is clearly defined in both the Old and New Testaments to be only reserved for one man and one woman. The Bible clearly teaches that we are to see the marriage relationship between man and woman to be an intimate picture of Christ’s relationship with the Church. Marriage is therefore a sacred commitment and should remain within boundaries set in the Bible.
The more that we as a country step away from God, the more we should expect His judgment. This weeks vote is a provocative move against God and is not a proud day for our country.
