We live in an age where even Jesus Christ’s existence is doubted! As Christians, we believe the New Testament provides ample historical evidence for Jesus’ life. With all the New Testament books were written well within 100 years of Jesus death (and resurrection) we have eye witness testimonies that include hundreds of references to Jesus.
But for a non-Christian, this is not enough as they do not see the Bible as a trustworthy source. Also, if everything the Bible says about Jesus is true you would expect other people to have written about Jesus whether they believed in him or not.
One thing we do have to remember is that in 70 AD the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and much of Israel. They burnt down entire cities so any writings about Jesus would more than likely have been lost. Non-Christians would say this is convenient! But there is still written evidence from non-Christian’s about Jesus, Michael Gleghorn covers some of these is his article – bethinking: Ancient Evidence for Jesus from Non-Christian Sources.
This provides evidence that Jesus was a “powerful and revered teacher“, he “performed miraculous feats“, that he was crucified and “there are possible references to the Christian belief in Jesus’ resurrection“, and that they “worshipped Jesus as God!”
The evidence for Jesus Christ is there, all you have to do is repent and believe in Him for eternal life!
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. (John 6:47)
