Yesterday the UK Parliament unsurprisingly voted to “recognise” the Palestinian State after a five hour debate in the House of Commons. Whilst this is merely a symbolic vote, it is significant and is one of a steady stream of efforts to apply political pressure on Israel whilst providing support and encouragement for the enemies of Israel.
This is an entirely predictable outcome from those who cannot and see this situation from a Biblical perspective and will continue to apply faulty human logic and fallen morality to a crisis that can ONLY be solved by God. What is worse is that those who busy themselves by intervening in the affairs of Israel ALWAYS get their hands burnt and unfortunately this will be no different.
Middle East Minister Tobias Ellwood commented that Britain would “bilaterally recognise Palestinian statehood only when we judge it can best bring about peace”. We have no doubt that this will only be done when the British Government sense an opportune moment to further the cause of Israel’s enemies and apply further international pressure on Israel – this will be done tactically and to the detriment of Israel.
Whilst votes like these make no difference whatsoever in the greater scheme of things from God’s perspective, we as a nation continue to alienate ourselves from our Creator by meddling with things that do not concern us. As a nation, we unashamedly continue along this path of turning away from God and will protest in disbelief when we are held to account and disciplined as a result. National judgment awaits the UK for this and many others offences against the Lord. The few who read God’s Word and take it’s words seriously must continue to plead with God on behalf of the UK and pray for the nation’s eyes to be opened.
He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth. He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations, the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac, which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.” (Psalm 105:7-11, emphasis added)
