The seven letters to the churches in Revelation 2 and 3 were personally dictated to the apostle John by the Lord Jesus. The letter to Laodicea is particularly relevant for the church in the ‘end times’ and we have to ask how it applies to Christendom in the UK today.
When was the last time you heard a sermon on this letter in your church? These seven letters are the only place in the Bible where Jesus Christ personally speaks directly to the church and yet most churches bypass them completely! No doubt this is because of the nature of its alarming message – this uncompromising letter makes for very uncomfortable reading and acts as an urgent call against complacency and inactivity in our faith.
