If you were asked who the worst human rights abuser is among Israel, ISIS, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, who would you say? Well, the Israel Advocacy Movement went onto the streets of London to find out. The video below shows the results:
While the results are not surprising to us it shows the opinions of Londoners are quite varied. That said, there are clearly many who have a perception that Israel is guilty of human rights abuse – but why? We hope you watched the comparisons in the video of Israel against these other nations, some of the scenes are horrific, yet people still believe Israel is more guilty.
A lot of public perception is influenced by the media, unfortunately our British media often display significant anti-Israel bias, as shown in each of these examples: BBC, The Guardian, The Times, The Telegraph, Daily Mail. Instead of the public being able to form their own opinions by reading or watching unbiased reports, they are feed with distorted views that are rooted in underlying agendas within the media companies.
The media is one thing, but we also have organisations like the United Nations who seem to have a relentless grudge against Israel as they continue to pass bizarre resolutions. This could simply amount to bullying, but whichever way this is looked at it still distorts public opinion against Israel.
So where is this leading? Exactly where the Bible says it will lead – God has been bringing His chosen people back to His land for many years now, they are there to be judged. God is also isolating Israel from the nations of the world to bring about the end time events. The God will prove to His chosen people and the whole world who is the one and only God.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. (Zechariah 12:3)
And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. So the house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God from that day and forward. (Ezekiel 29:21-22)
What we are witnessing has to happen as it’s part of God’s plan. This doesn’t mean we sit back and watch it happen, it means we should study God’s Word and try to understand current situations so we can stand up for Israel in our interactions with the world around us. Unfortunately too many British churches don’t believe Israel is still in God’s plan, so be sure you do – the Church hasn’t replaced Israel. God is going to show us all the truth as His future plan and events unfold – make sure you’re on the right side!
