For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
If Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead then the Christian faith is void and worthless. It’s this fact of the gospel message that a Christian’s belief should be rooted in. The belief here is more than simply accepting that something is true – Christians have to give themselves to the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, they have to surrender to that truth!
In our current cultural climate, it can be difficult to acknowledge such a belief with the pressure that society puts on us to conform to their view of the supernatural. Ultimately, as Christians, we trust in what God says, so if He says that Jesus rose from the dead then that should be good enough for us to hold such a belief. But we do not have to base this event on faith alone as we cover in our article – Did the resurrection really happen? Looking at the pros and cons of each theory should help us get closer to the truth and guide us to the most reasonable conclusion.
But, there are more facts available to demonstrate the resurrection account in more than reasonable, facts that even atheist scholars accept surrounding the historical event. Professor Gary Habermas details these facts in the video below where he shows that there is strong eyewitness data which is very close to the resurrection event itself. The facts covered should allow every Christian to fully surrender to the historical truth that Jesus Christ really did rise from the dead!
But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. (1 Corinthians 15:13-14)
