The 'Hate' Police arrive in force

We often blog on the growing intolerance shown to anyone who questions the social-engineering program that is currently underway in the UK. Recently, we shared some details of proposals put forward by the Scottish government to promote the notion that ‘gender’ is a choice rather than a biological fact – if this was not alarming enough, this is being aimed at 5-year-old children in the classroom.

This agenda is being further stepped up now with the police being asked to muscle in against anyone labelled as a ‘bigot’! David Robertson has written a blog – The ‘Hate’ Police are Now Here – with photos of adverts that have been popping up in towns and cities in Scotland. In the article, David points out a number of glaring inconsistencies and ambiguities in this campaign – we will not replicate these, but we recommend you read his observations for yourself.

From our perspective, it’s hard not to be alarmed by these posters – it is patently obvious they are targeting Christians who have genuine concerns about a number of things happening in society…the mocking references to ‘sermons’ and ‘preaching’ says it all. By simply labelling any dissent as ‘hate’ and ‘bigotry’ with the accompanying threat of police action, the voicing of any honest questions will be met by ferocious intolerance that is sanctioned by the government.

One of the most bizarre things with these posters is the ‘hateful’ and intolerant tone displayed in them – yet, this is exactly what they claim to combat. Given their own definition of hate, one could legitimately lodge a complaint against the police for the content of their own posters!

Christians do not hate, they love. It’s deplorable that any open discussion of important societal attitudes is being so aggressively censored. We can only assume that real crime in Scotland is such a minor problem that the police have plenty of spare time to be dragged into the state-sponsored muzzling of the population.

Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails. The wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted. (Habakkuk 1:4 NIV)

In reality, the legal system across Great Britain is in a pitiful state. A few months ago, the Home Office revealed that no-one is charged in 9 out of 10 crimes – the percentage of crimes resulting in a conviction must be tiny. Basically, the legal system is no deterrent whatsoever and is completely paralysed in dealing with real crime. Yet, instead of tackling this, police are moving into the policing of ‘thoughts’ and ‘opinions’ under the pretence of hate and tolerance, which is nothing of the kind.

These are depressing times if you care about the spiritual health of Great Britain as we do – the rampant secularism that dominates culture is desperate to sink its teeth into any perceived threat and will pick the softest targets possible. The best response is to use the example of Micah who also lived in times like these:

But as for me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me. (Micah 7:7 NIV)

We echo the sentiment of Micah – we must look up and focus on our Lord…He really is our only hope!
