The situation in Syria is terrible at present and the city of Damascus occupies much content of international news reporting. There is a very well-known prophecy concerning Damascus in Isaiah 17 which has never been fulfilled. This has been the subject of some of our previous blogs (here and here).

There is also an interesting prophecy concerning Damascus in Jeremiah 49:23-27. Many commentators assume this prophecy was fulfilled when Damascus was invaded in 732 BC. In the link below, Joel Rosenberg makes the vital point that this prophecy cannot have been fulfilled at that time as the recipient of this prophecy, Jeremiah, was not alive before this – Jeremiah died in 570 BC!

This passage should be seen as a parallel passage to Isaiah 17:1-3. See the link below for an in-depth commentary on these two prophecies concerning Damascus. It very valuable to view some of the end time prophecies with the Bible in one hand and the newspapers in the other. It is very possible some of these ancient prophecies will be played out on our TV screens!

3 Reasons why those dismissing Syria-related prophecies may be wrong!
