As we enter a new year, we can begin with renewed hopes and good intentions as we start afresh for another year. Many of our resolutions will naturally fade after a couple of months (if they even last that long!) but some we are able to sustain and keep going as long as our will-power allows. However, there is one sell-out gift this Christmas we pray dies out very quickly – the Ouija board!
Following on from a Hollywood film it seems these boards have been a very popular gift – Wicked ‘Supernatural’ Gift Among 2014’s Christmas Sell-Out Items. Unfortunately, these hideous tools are one of many methods used to try and contact the spirit world. Little do these unsuspecting people know what they could be heading for by participating in this bizarre craze. In the link above, the author Canon J. John likens the use of an ouija board to sneaking into a zoo and randomly unlocking the cages of the animals with no knowledge of what might leap out. The cages in a zoo are there for a good reason and the strict warnings against this occult activity in the Bible are also there for good reason as the results can be disastrous for those involved!
Ouija boards can open up doors into a spiritual dimension that is more malevolent, fierce and deceptive than we can possibly imagine. Once the doors into this world are opened, they can be incredibly difficult to close and things can escalate out of control quickly as deceptive spirits take hold.
The Bible clearly warns that Satan is waiting for any opportunity to take advantage of people:
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8)
Using these boards provides Satan with the perfect opportunity which is why we are strongly warned against taking part in any witchcraft or occult games no matter how ‘harmless’ they seem:
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21, emphasis added)
We hope 2015 does not bring an increased use of these boards and we pray people will understand this is no game and that there can be serious repercussions when ‘playing’ with these. It is quite simple, if you have an Ouija board – burn it! If you are invited to friends to ‘play’ with it – don’t go! Distance yourself from any kind of occult activity no matter what anyone says!
We do not know what 2015 will bring although we believe end time related events will continue to escalate. The fascination with spiritual activity is certainly increasing as Satan knows time is short which means we need to be equally, if not more, vigilant! We pray that in 2015 many people can find salvation in our Saviour Jesus Christ and rich blessings on our brothers and sisters in Christ!
