It is rare that the second coming of Jesus Christ is mentioned in churches so we were amazed to hear it during a BBC Breakfast TV slot!
This is thanks to the D-Day veteran Harry Billinge who directed a message to the young people today on understanding the history and the lessons learnt. Harry spoke about King George VI having a Day of Prayer but knowing its importance said we should have a Month of Prayer as we have so much to thank God for! He also spoke about love connecting it to Jesus Christ coming back…
“We’ve been stupid. We’re so clever we can blow one another up…but we don’t love one another. That’s the strongest thing on earth – love. Love is stronger than death and he’s coming back. Our Lord Jesus said he’d be back, and he will. And it says in Revelation ‘I saw a new heaven and a new earth’. And that’s what I believe too.”
Here is Harry’s short message:
We praise God that Harry got this message out, much to the surprise of the presenters. We do have a lot to thank God for and this country certainly needs a lot of prayers! Our prayer also is that churches will speak about Jesus Christ’s return and the warning signs we see in the world around us now. Thankfully the programme was broadcast live as this message would not have made it through editing. The full interview can be watched here.
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:1-4 NIV)
