We are on the brink of a dramatic break-up of the United Kingdom as the population of Scotland vote on independence. There is no question that there are several serious implications whatever the result and we fear that the UK will never be the same again even if the Scots vote against independence.

As a whole, the UK has completely turned it’s back on God over the last few decades as detailed in our article – It’s time to repent. There is a long list of UK legislation that has gone through Parliament which displays we are deliberately moving away from God’s standards of morality and this as climaxed recently with our provocative move to “redefine” marriage, one of the most precious and holy institutions in Scripture.

More seriously, the disgraceful anti-Israel sentiment that has been witnessed throughout the UK concerning the recent conflict in Gaza is something that God should not and will not tolerate and may prove the tipping point. Scotland, in particular, have taken an overt anti-Israeli stance on recent events in the Middle East and history is littered with evidence that God brings about consequences once this mark is overstepped. Among other things, this included the raising of the Palestinian flag above the council offices in Glasgow.

It is very interesting to look at this independence issue from God’s perspective and there are many possible spiritual dimensions to what is happening with this. John McTernan commentates on Bible Prophecy and takes a particular interest into events that befall nations that turn against Israel and meddle with Israel’s international affairs. In his As Great Britain/Scotland did to Israel blog he discusses the present situation in the UK with the Scottish independence vote and makes a potential link between God’s judgment and Scotland’s defiant anti-Israel stance.

If John McTernan is on the right track with this analysis, Scotland (and the UK) are going to experience absolute turmoil soon. Have a read of his blog for yourself and make up your own mind. We believe sincere repentance is the only way of appeasing God’s righteous wrath against any nation and individual. We urge anyone who will listen to sincerely repent and submit to God’s mercy. It is time to stand firmly with Israel and turn to our Creator and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It seems that God will shake nations as hard as needed to get their attention in these end times – if they still do not listen, they are handed over to judgment and in the case of the UK, this is long overdue. See these references God makes to nations that concern themselves with Israel:

For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head. (Obadiah 15)

I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed (Genesis 12:3)

We hope you will be one of the few humble but faithful and repentant voices who plead on the nation’s behalf for God’s mercy and even more of God’s patience before it is too late.

Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:19-20)
