End Times
We write this at a time when many European countries are entering varying degrees of lockdown in response to the accelerating infection rates (and deaths) due to coronavirus. The fragility of our lives and the systems we rely on has been exposed in a matter of days – panic buying and the stockpiling of goods threaten our food chains, huge job losses will lead to enormous financial dependence on the state and we can expect to have our freedom heavily controlled for months to come, if not longer.

Transgenderism (along with other LGBTQ+ issues) has become a complex and emotive issue in recent years. Also known as transsexualism, gender dysphoria and gender identity disorder (GID), it describes a condition where the physical or biological gender that someone is born into does not match the gender that the person identifies with or perceives themselves to be.

Our news screens are presently dominated by the worldwide outbreak of coronavirus which has inevitably led to significant alarm and a degree of hysteria. The Express newspaper have (playfully!) highlighted the link that some bible commentators are making between coronavirus and end time prophecy.

Within Christian circles, there is sometimes a fierce debate about the timing of the rapture of the Church and where this fits into biblical eschatology.
We believe an understanding of the purpose of the rapture is a key part of understanding the end time timeline. The ‘Doomsday Clock’ has recently been moved to 100 seconds to midnight. This clock, which is designed to warn the public about how close we are to destroying the world with dangerous technologies of our own making, is the closest to midnight it’s been since creation in 1947 as the Atomic Scientists’ Science and Security Board aim to raise awareness of existential dangers threatening humanity. It’s certainly been a turbulent start to 2020! With the assassination of Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani only a few days into the new year, the world has been on high alert for many nations being dragged into war. Since then, Iran has retaliated with a missile strike on Iraqi military bases that house U.S. forces. Although this didn’t result in any casualties, fears grow that this could escalate very quickly and only heightens rumours that a major war is not far away. This is symptomatic of Jesus’ warning of what the world will be like before his return as we know Iran is an end time key player.

Jesus famously made seven ‘I am’ statements which are outlined in John’s gospel. We have written an article that unpacks each of these claims.
