Hands on Bible praying, self reflection, looking at ourselves

We are living in very testing times, the world is rapidly changing as our post-Christian society gains traction. Instead of churches separating themselves from changes around us that compromise scripture they are choosing the opposite to be seen as modern and appealing. The stakes are massive here as relationships with God walk a tightrope for both churches and individuals. There is a serious need to look at ourselves and our personal relationship with God to assess if changes need to be made.

The health of a church is largely down to the leader and the team they have around them. Ultimately, church leaders are called to shepherd the flock and… Continue reading

Blurred image of inside a denominational church

There have been stories in recent weeks that perfectly highlight the complete spiritual disarray and apostasy of the denominational church in the UK. The most disturbing feature for us is the churches recent transition from the passive silence to the positive approval of the spectacular departure from Biblical morality within society. At a time when the truth and love of Jesus Christ is needed more than ever, we instead are left with a church environment that is carried along like the wind with the narrative of a culture that defiantly opposes God. By many measures, many protestant denominations have become more apostate than the Roman Catholic church and that’s no… Continue reading

500 years since Martin Luther: Was he a saint or sinner?

It’s been 500 years since Martin Luther, on Tuesday 31st October 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of Wittenberg Castle Church and the Christian landscape changed forever – it signalled the birth of the Reformation and changed the course of Western history forever for the better. The Catholic Church had made Christianity a torrid religion of works and servitude that bore no resemblance to the gospel of the New Testament. In fact, the Scriptures were read in Latin and could not the understood by the masses – the Church, therefore, controlled the interpretation of the Bible and they used this power to pervert the good news… Continue reading

Two Sermons on 1 Corinthians 10

In recent weeks, Danny has been asked to preach at St Andrew’s Baptist Church on two occasions. He has worked through 1 Corinthians 10 which is an incredibly practical passage – although this passage is particularly relevant for St Andrew’s at the present time, there is much in the way of practical advice for any church in these times of extreme moral volatility and confusion within society.

Feel free to listen to the sermons and we hope they are a blessing…

Sermon 1 – Lessons from the History of God’s People

The first sermon covers 1 Corinthians 10:1-13:

Noah's ark in the sea, return of the 'days of Noah' are end time signs

When asked about the signs of the end times in the Olivet Discourse, Jesus drew a parallel between the ‘days of Noah’ and the days prior to His return – effectively Jesus was saying that there would be a repeat of the situation that led to the flood:

But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also… Continue reading

Canon Andrew White on the Middle East

Very few Western church leaders understand the Middle East as well as Canon Andrew White. Also known as the ‘vicar of Baghdad’, Andrew White has intimate knowledge of the difficulties of living for Jesus Christ in a majority Muslim region. Not only this, he has a unique understanding of the complexities of the Middle East peace process and the animosity towards the Jews from surrounding nations and the world at large.

We have blogged before on the flagrant bias against Israel demonstrated by many international ‘peacekeeping’ bodies such as the UN which do little to conceal their obsession against the only democracy in the Middle East – they appear to… Continue reading

Sermon: Prepared as a Bride

Last Sunday (New Years Day), Danny was asked to preach at St Andrew’s Baptist Church and he gave a sermon entitled ‘Prepared as a Bride’ where he looked into the need for being prepared, watchful and alert in these uncertain times.

2 Corinthians 4:16-5:10 was used as a base text and there were three themes that were expounded that are particularly relevant at the start of a New Year:

  1. The need for Perspective
  2. The need for Purity
  3. The need for Passion

Although this message was given specifically with St Andrew’s Baptist Church in mind, there will no doubt be an application for any church or individual.

Feel free to listen… Continue reading
