The Bible clearly teaches that there will come a point in time where all believers in Christ will be “snatched” away from earth to meet the Lord in the air (see 1 Thes 4:16-18, 1 Cor 15:51-53, Rev 3:10). We believe this removal will usher in the great and terrible “day of the Lord” that is described in many passages. Indeed, Revelation 3:10-11 says:

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. (emphasis added)

This event is a great hope for the Christian – it is vital to be prepared for this amazing event. You can be assured of being part of the rapture of believers by confessing your sins to God and calling on Jesus Christ for salvation. See our page, How to be saved for information.

In addition to this article by Pat Franklin, we do feel it is important to take SOME preparations for unforeseen events that could occur. Obviously, if the rapture happens, our life as we know it will over and any “prepping” we have done will prove unnecessary. However, there are many events that could occur that may lead to social unrest, economic collapse, etc. and some preparation for this is surely sensible? We have to balance an attitude of trust in the Lord to provide for us with a degree of common sense to be prepared for unforeseen circumstances. Just imagine you were informed that all shops in the country would have to close for a two week period. It would be crazy and irresponsible to only have enough supplies for two days – in fact, this would be a bad witness…you would end up becoming a burden on those around you!

Of course we should demonstrate that the Lord is the “love of our life” and keep our eyes and motivations fixed on the “kingdom to come”. However, we should also keep up with relevant news and make sure that while we do remain in this world we use our common sense to take reasonable precautions to provide for our families and friends in time of need!
