This is the final part of the Science and the Bible blogs. Part 1 shows that planet Earth is a special place and Part 2 shows abundant evidence that the human body could not have evolved through natural laws.
We are living in a time where freedom within the scientific community is being eroded. Ideally, the scientific environment should facilitate the freedom to follow evidence and pursue discovery wherever it leads. But when the origin of life is the topic, any view outside of Darwinian evolution draws irrational criticism. This is rarely a respectful disagreement, but usually includes unjustified vicious comments and smear campaigns where the professional integrity of those who have views different to the “scientific establishment” are ridiculed. This is not freedom. There any many excellent scientists who have lost their jobs (or forced to resign) purely for following the evidence that shows intelligence must have played a part in what we observe in the world around us.
Mentioning any form of Intelligent Design in relation to our origins seems to trigger underlying irrational emotions – when saying “intelligence” they hear creationism, they hear religion, they hear God! Richard Dawkins says “Intelligent Design design people are not genuine scientists”. Other evolutionists will accuse Intelligent Design of being propaganda or a racket, instructing scientists to keep their Intelligent Design views to themselves and segregating them to the periphery of mainstream science. It is astonishing that this bullying and persecution is solely based on worldview and have nothing to do with an open minded look at the evidence.
Intelligent Design has become known as a “science sin” and every effort to suppress or diminish work around Intelligence Design is made. There is a deeper battle taking place though; Darwinian scientists are worried Intelligent Design is a better argument for our origins. In fact, Darwinism strictly defined, starts after the origin of life and deals only with living things so how can Darwinian scientists claim to have a theory about life without a theory of how life began?
Science and religion are not at war, it is a “worldview” conflict! Both science and belief in God attempt to explain existence but for many in the scientific community their worldview comes first, then the interpretation of science is made to fit around the worldview. There is serious concern that if one aspect of the Darwinian theory is exposed it will cause major shock waves throughout the scientific world and beyond.
There are some scientists that accept that Darwinian evolution does not explain how life began. They acknowledge the complexity in the cell and some go on to say there must have been something that caused the information to come into existence. Richard Dawkins admits “nobody knows how life started, we know the kind of event it must have been, that must have happened for the origin of life, an event caused the origin of the first self replicating molecule. No idea how it started.”.
Dawkins, amazingly, also stated:
The signature has been discovered – DNA is no secret. This is why DNA has become known as the language of life as it contains the instructions to construct all living organisms. Dawkins believes that there could have been a higher intelligence but that this intelligence must have originated through the same evolutionary processes before it and so on, continually going back forever. 
Other scientists believe that all the complexity of the cell began as a result of crystals….somehow! Or that life was seeded by aliens many years ago. Basically clinging to any far fetched theory except the existence of God, especially the one true God of the Bible!
There is abundant, clear evidence for an intelligent, amazing mind that created us and the universe we live in. God has given us overwhelming proof of His existence that is often overlooked completely. He has revealed Himself through creation and verified Himself through prophecy. It is a proud heart that prevents many from accepting Jesus Christ as their saviour:
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. (Psalm 10:4)
You can believe in God AND be an exceptional scientist. More importantly, evidence should always be looked at without a biased worldview and it should be recognised that some things will fall outside the boundaries of scientific exploration anyway. The failure to recognise this makes the pursuit of scientific discovery arrogant and foolish:
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (Psalm 14:1)
It is foolish because denying God is not something that can be done rationally or logically as a result of simply following the evidence. It is an emotional reaction to a preconceived view that forces the evidence to fit around it.
The scientific arena appears to be becoming a form of dictatorship where you have to follow to a certain worldview before having any credibility – if freedom is lost in science where will this lead? This can only hinder the noble ambition to make greater discoveries but even more damning, it will hinder many from turning to the Creator Himself!
In fact the Bible contains many scientific facts that were written centuries before we even discovered them! These include:
- The Earth is round (Isaiah 40:22) – discovered in 15th Century
- Earth is held in place by invisible forces (Job 26:7) – discovered in 1650
- Infinite number of stars exist (Genesis 15:5; Jeremiah 33:22) – discovered in 1940
- Earth’s weather follows rules and cycles (Genesis 8:22) – discovered by Galileo around 300 years ago
This alone should be cause to consider what the Bible has to say!
Science is a virtuous pursuit and the discoveries we are making about the universe and our bodies are breathtaking. But it is essential to understand the differences between historical and observational science. The observation of immense complexity is now available for everyone to see, we can make our own conclusions. Society in many areas is telling us that there is no God – are you prepared to take the risk and believe them?
We are told in the Bible that there will be a falling away:
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
What we are witnessing is even more evidence in support of the Bible. Do you see the following more and more in society around us:
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7 emphasis added)
Even people who said they believed in God are now turning their back to Him:
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; (1 Timothy 4:1-2 emphasis added)
Does the evidence show the hallmark of a Creator to you? You have the freedom to make your own decision – distraction and influence will come at you from every angle but it is what you believe in your heart that matters! Be prepared for judgment day – How to be Saved!
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)
