For those who hold a Biblical view of the sanctity of life, this has been a disturbing week. New York is among a number of US States which are now legalising abortion up to birth – in fact, the ‘Reproductive Health Act’ allows for the killing of babies who somehow survive the abortion process during labour and are born alive – which is effectively infanticide. This legislation defines a ‘person’ as a ‘human being who has been born and is alive’ – thereby dehumanising all babies in the womb.

Among the many unfounded attacks directed towards Biblical morality includes the accusation that the Bible and Jesus endorse slavery. Some will also point to the historical practice of the church and/or Bible passages which are said to implicitly approve of this practice. Surely, there would be a clear prohibition against slavery if this was a feature of living out the Christian faith?

Finding connections between Brexit and Bible prophecy is a hot topic. In the Bible, there are two geopolitical events that are very significant to end time prophecy:
- the regathering of the Jews and statehood of Israel
- the revival of the old Roman empire
The amazing thing about the times we are living is that the stage is clearly being set for the fulfilment of both of these events.

Reading the Bible is a duty for every Christian, it should be a habit and one of the greatest joys for the Christian. However, God’s word can be a gift that gathers dust on a shelf and rarely thought of, let alone touched. This is heartbreaking considering how privileged we are in Britain to have the freedom to worship in church and own Bibles.
